Styling your Home for Spring Season
Once again ladies and gentlemen, we are back with some styling ideas for spring. For those of us who live on the east coast, like myself, we are quite relieved that the icy cold weather has gone and we are in the best season of the year. A little biased, yes, because it is my personal favorite. Spring, in many ways, is the beginning of new life. Plants start to sprout and bloom beautifully and the sun seems to shine differently. This is a natural cycle of life that symbolizes fresh new beginnings hence, I am going to share with you some styling tips that will make your home feel fresh this spring!
When I design for spring I always try to bring the outside in. When I think of spring, I imagine fresh flowers, birds chirping, the bright sun, and cool breezy air. Here are some styling ideas I personally apply in my home.
Bring in a Splash of Color
It’s time to replace the dark colors of winter with a splash of brightness. You don’t have to go painting every room. Pick a color already in your space and choose its complementary color. (Use the color wheel as a guide) Use that color a few times around the space, in a set of pillows, a throw, accessories or artwork. Don’t get nervous when you find your complimentary color, remember there are many shades and tones of that color. Have fun with it!
Decorate with Nature
Indoor plants eliminate toxins from the air, improving our home air quality. They are energizing for the mind by lowering stress levels and encouraging a deeper sleep. I should probably live in a green house, so I could be stress free and sleep like a baby. LOL I feel that plants and greenery are a must in any space. If you have them, place them strategically in you home. From your office to even a corner in the bathroom. They do add a sense of freshness as well. A simple floral arrangement on a coffee table will do so much for a space.
Lighten Your Load
It’s time to change the sheets and all other linens in our home. We’re done with the chunky heavy blankets and now we can transition into a light weight bedspread . Cotton and linen sheets are my go to combinations. You can also use some printed bed linen and different textured coverlets to create more interest. My preference is to mix bold prints in a monochromatic color scheme. Have fun with it!
And that wraps up my top easy ways in styling your home for spring!
